Visually Impaired Activity Center

Visually Impaired Activity Center

What is it?

The Visually Impaired Activity Center is a multisensory learning device designed to engage students with visual impairments through tactile, auditory, and cause-and-effect experiences. It features a bright yellow plate that vibrates when touched, a pull-ball that activates a fan, and a textured oval plate that turns on an AM/FM radio. These components provide immediate feedback to stimulate sensory exploration and reinforce interactive learning.

How to use it?

Place the activity center on a stable surface within easy reach of the student. Encourage the student to explore each feature: pressing the yellow plate to feel vibrations, pulling the ball to experience airflow from the fan, and pressing the oval plate to listen to the radio. These activities help students understand cause-and-effect relationships and can be incorporated into sensory play or structured learning sessions.

Why use it?

Utilizing the Visually Impaired Activity Center in inclusive classrooms supports the development of sensory processing, motor skills, and cognitive understanding for students with visual impairments. By providing consistent and engaging feedback, it fosters independence and confidence in exploring their environment. This tool promotes an inclusive learning atmosphere where all students can participate and benefit from multisensory educational experiences.
