Description
This interactive 3-hour virtual class is designed to build stronger, more effective partnerships between teachers and paraprofessionals. Blending the content of a popular three-part series into one collaborative experience, the session focuses on aligning roles, understanding student behavior through multiple lenses, and exploring practical tools—including assistive technology (AT) and AI—to support inclusive classrooms.
This session includes opportunities for reflection, cross-role discussion, and joint problem-solving in breakout groups. A Slack-based community of practice will be introduced, offering continued support, shared resources, and mini-training modules after the class.
Learning Objectives
- Clarify the roles and responsibilities of teachers and paras, and develop strategies for building trust and shared purpose.
- Examine behavior from diverse perspectives to foster consistent and compassionate support, strategies and tools for students with disabilities.
- Learn how AT and AI tools can enhance access to instruction, communication, and student engagement.
