Description:

Inclusive by Design is a virtual learning series focused on strengthening learning environments so more students can meaningfully participate, access learning, and express their understanding across classroom settings.

This session we will explore ways to embed inclusive routines, tools, and supports into everyday elementary instruction so more students can access and engage in grade-level learning.

While grounded in strong Tier 1 design, each session highlights how supports often associated with Tier 2 and Tier 3 (e.g., assistive technology, AAC, sensory supports, and specialized strategies) can be integrated into everyday practice to benefit all learners. Participants will leave with ready-to-use ideas, collaborative insights, and a growing network of support. Sessions are interactive, recorded, and include a book drawing aligned to the session focus.

Objectives:

  1. Strengthen classroom environments by embedding flexible routines, tools, and supports that increase access to grade-level learning.
  2. Integrate supports often used across tiers (e.g., visuals, AAC, scaffolds) into everyday instruction to support diverse learners.

Agenda:

Welcome & Framing: Set the context, purpose, and connection to inclusive Tier 1 design

Tools & Strategies: Share practical examples from educators and specialists

Discussion: Collaborative discussion to connect ideas, ask questions, and problem-solve together

Reflection: Identify one takeaway and next step to apply in practice

Feedback & Drawing: Each session includes an assistive tech or book drawing aligned to the session focus or UDL.
