Description:

Inclusive by Design is a virtual learning series focused on strengthening learning environments so more students can meaningfully participate, access learning, and express their understanding across classroom settings.

In this session, we will explore ways to design creative spaces and lessons where all students can access, express, and participate through flexible materials, multimodal tools, and inclusive routines.

While grounded in strong Tier 1 design, each session highlights how supports often associated with Tier 2 and Tier 3 (e.g., assistive technology, AAC, sensory supports, and specialized strategies) can be integrated into everyday practice to benefit all learners. Participants will leave with ready-to-use ideas, collaborative insights, and a growing network of support. Sessions are interactive, recorded, and include a book drawing aligned to the session focus.

Objectives:

  1. Design creative environments that offer multiple ways for students to access, create, and express their ideas.
  2. Integrate flexible materials and supports to remove barriers and increase participation across artistic experiences.

Agenda:

Welcome & Framing: Set the context, purpose, and connection to inclusive Tier 1 design

Tools & Strategies: Share practical examples from educators and specialists

Discussion: Collaborative discussion to connect ideas, ask questions, and problem-solve together

Reflection: Identify one takeaway and next step to apply in practice

Feedback & Drawing: Each session includes an assistive tech or book drawing aligned to the session focus or UDL.
