Every student deserves literacy access. Join our 3-hour hands-on retreat based on Comprehensive Literacy for All. You’ll explore evidence-based strategies and practice using tools in a collaborative space. Gain the tools to provide inclusive instruction for learners with significant disabilities. Turn vision into action!

Objectives – What You’ll Experience:

  • Set Measurable Goals: Define clear, achievable literacy goals for students at all developmental stages, from early communication to advanced language use.
  • Hands-On Learning: Practice evidence-based strategies from Comprehensive Literacy for All and adapt them to real-world scenarios, ensuring your lessons are ready to meet the needs of every learner.
  • Explore Innovative Tools: Get hands-on experience with the latest technologies to enhance student engagement and accelerate literacy growth.
  • Collaborate and Problem-Solve: Work closely with peers to share ideas, troubleshoot challenges, and learn from one another’s expertise.
  • Reflect and Refine: Examine your current practices in depth and develop actionable steps to strengthen your approach to literacy instruction for students with disabilities.

This retreat is perfect for educators looking to expand their skills, deepen their understanding, and leave with concrete materials to support students with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) and complex communication needs.

9:00 – 9:30 | Introductions & framing CLFA (30 min)

9:30 – 10:00 | Demonstration and hands-on rotations (30 min)

10:00 – 10:15 | Book Collection & Giveaway (15 min)

10:15 – 10:30 | Q & A and vendor opportunity (15 min)

10:30 – 10:50 | Application to students & goal setting (video Jane Farrall & PVC) (20 min)

10:50 – 11:20 | Lesson Planning with PMT (30 min)

11:20 – 11:50 | Create your lessons (30 min)

11:50 – 12:00 | Wrap up and reflect (10 min)

Asynchronous learning for clock hours: Podcast and Reflection (1 hour, complete prior to event).

Course Completion Requirements:

Completion requires learners to (1) attend the instructional presentation in full; (2) Complete final reflection/survey. Attendance will be monitored by sign in sheet.

Course requirements must be submitted no later than March 24th, 2026.

Asynchronous learning opportunity for clock hours: Those wishing to receive clock hours will be required to review a podcast and reflection (1 hour) prior to the event.
