Description
This robust and highly interactive professional learning is based on work by mathematicians Jennifer Bay-Williams and Gina Kling in their book, Math Fact Fluency: 60+ Games and Assessment Tools to Support Learning and Retention. We will explore five fundamentals designed for strategy use in math learning and retention through games and assessments that will lead students to not only learn basic facts, but to retain these important facts and use them flexibly in higher level mathematics.
Learning Objectives:
- Introduce the five fundamentals of fluency, and three phases of math fact fluency.
- Share assessment resources that leave time out of assessments.
- Engage participants in an interactive math game that supports fluency development.

Linda Doehle started her career as a software engineer after completing her degrees in Computer Science and Mathematics at Whitworth College. She brought her technical skills to the field of assistive technology while working as an Assistive Technology Specialist for the Yakima School District. Linda holds an AT Specialist Certificate and enjoys being able to use her technology skills in helping students optimize their abilities using assistive technology. Linda has been with the Special Education Technology Center for eleven years and has presented webinars and classes at national and statewide conferences.
