After attending the national ATIA (Assistive Technology Industry Association) conference in Orlando, Florida in January 2024, Rose and Karanveer would like to share highlights of what we learned to challenge our growth in Assistive Technology and inspire all of you to try some new strategies and tools. Karanveer will have the exciting opportunity to be a keynote speaker at the conference as the 2024 AAC Prentke Lecture Award Recipient and he will share his experience! Come hear about the latest trends and tips in Assistive Technology in an informal sharing and discussion format!
Learning Objectives
- Participants will identify at least 2 AT tips that can be applied to their own instructional practice with students.
- Participants will compare and contrast AT tools and strategies presented and choose one tool or strategy to trial or pursue deeper learning.
Presenters
Rose Racicot, MS, OTR/L
Rose Racicot is an Occupational Therapist and Assistive Technology Specialist with over 37 years of experience supporting students and teachers in public schools. Her passion is to help school districts and educators implement Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles and accessible educational materials to create inclusive classrooms for all students to succeed. Rose has led hands-on professional learning sessions for educators on both Apple and PC platforms.
Rose has recently retired from Assistive Technology (AT) roles at Kent and Bellevue School Districts as well as the Special Education Technology Center (SETC) at Central Washington University. She continues to enjoy part time independent AT consulting and training opportunities.
