We are excited to explore the new book, “Inclusive 365: Edtech Strategies for Every Day of the Year” by Christopher Bugaj, Karen Janowski, Mike Marotta and Beth Poss. During this 4 session series, participants will discuss practical daily strategies and tools that can support meaningful instruction aligned to ISTE standards. From building literacy through closed captioning to using coding to teach early literacy, you will be inspired with new ideas to help your students access more equitable and inclusive educational experiences.

Learning Objectives: 

  1. Discuss inclusive strategies and tools to support all learners in a technology centered classroom. 
  2. Discuss how to effectively consider and select assistive technology solutions for unique learners. 
  3. Discuss ways to support IEP teams in accommodating or modifying lessons to include unique assistive technology considerations and integrate universally designed technology into the classroom.

Session 1:  Whole book overview, look at intro, review strategy categories, cross content strategies, skim and get a feel for the layout of the book.  

Session 2:  Focus on Reading & Writing Strategies – pages 98-201

Session 3:  Focus on STEAM, Research and Studying Strategies – pages 202-274

Session 4:  Focus on Executive Functioning, Social Emotional Learning and Professional Learning Strategies – pages 275-365

Presenters

Rose Racicot, MS, OTR/L

Rose is an OT and Assistive Technology Specialist in Bellevue School District and at the Special Education Technology Center at CWU with 34 years of experience. Her passion is to help school districts and educators implement Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles to create inclusive classrooms for all students to succeed. Rose facilitates learning experiences on UDL, literacy support software, educational iPad apps, and accessibility features across platforms at the local, state, and national level both in-person and through remote learning.

Traci West, MOTR/L

Traci West, MOTR/L is an OT and Instructional Facilitator for Assistive Technology in Tacoma Public Schools. She has practiced in the OT field for 24 years, with the past 16 years spent in school-based therapy. Prior to earning her MOTR/L, she was a COTA/L and brings experiences from both perspectives during her years of service in nursing facilities, hospital rehab, hand therapy, and school-based therapy. Passions include teaching others about the wide variety of accommodations available to support student inclusion in the general education setting and building a district culture of differentiation and inclusion.
