Description
AT Chatters are an opportunity for Washington state educators to come together via Zoom to discuss current assistive technology topics. The topic for today’s AT Chatter is Grid 3 and Grid for iPad – both from Smartbox. This includes built-in Grid Sets, such as SuperCore, VocoChat, and even WordPower (Grid 3 / PC only), as well as custom grid sets for specific activities. We will explore these resources for supporting access to communication, learning and environmental controls. We will be joined by Alicia Alverson (Smartbox) to enhance our conversation and provide ongoing support for learning about the features within these systems. Please join us to share what you know, or wish to know, about Grid 3 / Grid for iPad, and the Smartbox hardware (Grid Pads, eye gaze accessories, etc). The intent of this discussion is to explore these resources and learn about the options they provide for students and teams who are using AAC and alternative access.
Learning Objectives
- Participants will engage in peer-to-peer knowledge exchange by sharing experiences, successful practices, and challenges in using Smartbox products (Grid 3 / Grid for iPad / Grid Pads).
- Participants will list 2 practical purposes for using these dynamic tools to support students with complex communication and access needs.
