The SCATIR switch is a self-calibrating momentary-contact infrared switch with auditory feedback. It works by detecting a beam of reflected pulsed infrared light. It can be activated by an eye-blink, eyebrow movement, finger movement, head movement, and facial muscle movement. It can be activated at a distance so the controlling part of the body does not need to be in physical contact with the switch sensor. The auditory feedback feature can be enabled or disabled by means of an internal selector switch. The SCATIR switch comes with an eyeglass mounting kit and a gooseneck mounting kit.
